On the back cover of Kojiki - 1990 World Tour Brochure are listed the "Eleven Steps Toward a More Beautiful World" depicting Kitaro's albums under the *Geffen Records label.

Geffen Records was Kitaro’s premiere promoter and professionally presented the real essence of Kitaro’s signature sound to the world.

These 11 theme albums are the foundation of Kitaro’s 40 year musical career. However, Kitaro relinquished ownership of much of this earlier work and over the years countless record publishing companies continue to exchange these albums and record tracks and combined them into scores of compilation albums portraying them as a “New Kitaro Album” (some intermingled with more of his contemporary works).

After Geffen Records, another attempt was implemented to bring back the luster to Kitaro’s niche market but it failed. Then in the early 90’s an unsuccessful approach to bring back what was left of the Kitaro’s inventory under one publisher's umbrella was made but it has also failed due to mismanagement.

Geffen Records' Auspicious Kitaro Collection is a timeless and classic assortment of the epitome of Kitaro and captures his true nature.

*Geffen Records was founded in 1980 by music industry businessman David Geffen who, in the early 1970s, had founded Asylum Records. Geffen stepped down from Asylum after being diagnosed with a cancerous cyst, but following confirmation that the growth was benign, he returned to work and struck a deal with Warner Bros. Records to create Geffen Records. Warner provided 100 percent of the funding for the label’s operations, while Geffen retained 50 percent of the profits, and distributed its records. (International distribution outside the US and Canada, meanwhile, moved from WEA in 1982 to CBS until 1990.)
