Kitaro creates music for NHK's special programs, Ancient and The Fourth Civilization since Silk Road. Come explore the mysteries of Ancient with Kitaro's signature sounds. (Released in Asia 2000 and formally released in New York on 8 May 2001)
Fresh from the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards as winner for his album Thinking of You, multi-instrumentalist mastermind Kitaro invites everyone to explore the exciting new world of Ancient. Steeped in an adventurous array of synthesizers, percussion, wind instruments and orchestral accompaniment, Kitaro blends Middle Eastern and Asian influences into a tapestry of cultures and civilizations long past. The album's two bookends "Nile" and "Beyond" features the symphonic splendor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, whose presence give the tracks a larger than life feel. Other offerings include the Arabian themed "Ritual Dance" and the Indian flavors of "Unicorn," making for an album that's both rich and diverse. And this album was nominated for the 44th Grammy Awards in the best New Age album category.
