This compilation was a companion and bonus CD, with the 1998 new release of Gaia, features a sampling of Kitaro's greatest musical works over the last ten years.
He is the consummate hyphenate - composer - arranger - producer - performer - multi-instrumentalist- but calls his music simply "spiritual." His recordings, as embodied in his newest, Gaia, are distinguished by their warmth and emotion as opposed to the New Age emphasis on digital technique over humaness. "Feeling'" he says, "is most the important element in my music."
In all his work, Kitaro's dream is to instill harmony and a peaceful coexistence, building a balance between nature and humanity. Each eagerly - anticipated new release is celebrated as a journey of discovery and challenge.
He has helped bring the world together before, performing at the closing ceremony of the 1998 Olympic Winter Games, leading 450 Japanese taiko drummers, including 100 on enormous sacred instruments, in a performance based on the "Onbashira" festival.
"My ultimate goal," says Kitaro, "is to keep expressing my feelings in music, and for the people to enjoy it."
Included is a three page fold-out album jacket depicting other Kitaro albums at that time.
